Meghan Ward is the proud Dean of the Citizenship & Science Academy of Syracuse. Ms. Ward served as a founding member of the school in 2017, where she began as a Literacy Specialist. Ms. Ward then assumed the role of Academic Coach before taking over as Dean in February of 2023. Before this, Ms. Ward taught grades 3-5 in Tampa, Florida, where she was ESOL and Gifted certified. During her graduate studies, Ms. Ward had the privilege of mentoring US preservice teachers and UK educators in Cambridge, England.

She earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of South Florida. Her Bachelor's is in Elementary Education, and her Master's is in Reading Education. She was Teacher of the Year in both 2012 and 2015. Additionally, she was a 2013 ESE Inclusionary Team of the Year Nominee, a 2016 Education is Key Nominee and a 2022 Commitment to Urban Education Award recipient.

Outside of school, Ms. Ward loves spending time with family and friends. She enjoys reading, traveling, trying new recipes, crafting charcuterie boards, and photography. Her favorite quote is “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better,” by Maya Angelou.
