Superintendent's Message
Greetings, and thank you for your interest in Science Academies of New York | SANY!
SANY offers area students the best aspects of public and private education. As a public charter school, SANY’s tuition-free program offers the small classes and college preparatory programs of a private academy to students who would otherwise be financially constrained to attend public school. Students learn and grow into productive, conscientious citizens with a keen sense of social awareness and community responsibility.
It is a privilege and a responsibility to work in partnership with parents to educate and nurture their children as our students. We acknowledge the role of the whole community, family, and school in ensuring that each student reaches his or her full potential. With a very low teacher-to-student ratio, students enjoy the benefits of smaller classes and personalized attention. Our academic classes are designed to harness the students' interests and energy before they declare a college major and to see that each student is fully prepared to be successful in college, career, and citizenship.
Students enjoy ample extracurricular activities that meet their interests. During breaks and summer vacation, there is the opportunity to participate in educational trips to international destinations, that have included: Japan; the Netherlands; Belgium; Germany; France; and Turkey, as well as domestic locations such as Boston, MA; Washington, D.C.; and national parks in California, New York City and Philadelphia. Trips and activities are designed to provide students with an understanding of their role locally, nationally, and globally.
Faculty and administrators work diligently to provide a complete and unique secondary education to a culturally diverse student group. In a world of constantly changing educational and technological needs, the Science Academies of New York boldly and with innovation prepare today’s youth for the challenges of tomorrow.
