James Mathis Jr. is the dedicated Operations Manager at the Citizenship & Science Academy of Syracuse Middle School. He began his journey with SANY as the Operations Manager at Citizenship & Science Academy of Rochester during the 2023-24 school year, bringing experience and enthusiasm to his role.
Mr. Mathis holds a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and Religious Studies and a Master of Science in Mental Health and Wellness. His diverse educational background has shaped his approach to nurturing a supportive and dynamic school environment.
Before joining SANY, he contributed to the education sector as a K-12 music teacher. He taught several subjects, including Bible studies for 7th and 8th graders, Church History, Worldview and Culture, and Fine Arts.
Beyond his professional life, Mr. Mathis is a family man, married with one child. He enjoys spending his free time fishing and woodworking. He is known for his love of black, blue, and the number six.
